forsythia, lilacs and tulips, oh my.

The people closest to me know how much i love flowers. So much in fact that it is one of my biggest thrills to anticipate the coming of spring along with two of my favourite flowers. I know where all of the forsythia and lilac bushes are around town and i know which ones are easiest to sneak to with my shears. This year before we even left on our trip i knew i would miss the start of forsythia season. It wasn't a good enough reason to cancel the trip (um, sorry honey but we can't go until the growing season is over because i don't want to miss any flowers this year).
The good news is that i haven't missed the lilacs. Because of the cooler weather this year, they seem to be a bit late. So, if you see a crazy woman climbing a bush with a knife in hand pull over and i'll cut you some too. And, if you feel like getting married in the next few weeks, we should talk about your flowers.

the cure for the winter blues

I just got back from our 5 week tour of 7 States with Brent and our 8 month old Delphine. We made our way south and across to Florida camping in the back of our van. It was an amazing experience and of course it was great to get out of the west coast rain for awhile. Besides a few hazards (car breakdowns, fire ant bites and a crazy fistfight amongst a louisiana family) we have the best memories of spectacular vistas and super friendly Americans....Now its back to work - the wedding season is starting soon!
